I visit 1st-4th grade once a month for a monthly lesson. I have noticed that tattling seems to be an issue for all grade levels in the elementary. I knew this is something that we should be working on. We read the book "A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue". This book is a wonderful tool to teach our kiddos the difference between tattling and a warning through the use of "tattle rules" A warning situation is where a person or animal is in potential danger and it cannot wait. Tattling is when no one is in danger, it can wait, and they can most likely solve the problem without help.
These rules allow students to understand the difference between tattling and warning. We later tested our knowledge with determining whether a situation was tattling or warning. They loved this activity and were so excited every time they got it right. If you have any questions about my monthly lessons please don't hesitate to call. My extension is 345
